Justin Gray

So, in my opinion the most unrecognized phenomena at Wake Forest was Justin Gray.  Gray was CP3's wing man and created trouble for so many opponents.  Gray and Taron Downey were one of the most dangerous 3 point shooters in the nation during their tenure.  I have always been a huge J-Gray fan and I saw so many similarities in him and Randolph Childress.  Gray did not have an NBA career and neither did Childress but that is no reason to say that Justin Gray was not one of the most successful Wake Forest players of all time.  Childress' #22 is hanging above the Joel but Justin's #1 is still missing.  I am going to try to get the Wake Forest Athletic Department to take a keen notice to Justin's achievements and hopefully one day the #1 will be hanging high in The Joel right next to Josh Howard's #5.  In a closing statement, any player that plays with a Jaw brace is an absolute man, and Justin Gray is just that!

My 2011 Bracket is FINISHED

Here is my bracket!  Just click on the image to enlarge it so see my picks.

My Bracket

I have officially finished my bracket and submitted it a few places.  Got a few upsets and surprises along with some teams that everyone knows will run deep. So I guess time will tell if this is my year to shine with a bracket!

2011 First Round (First Four) Picks

Tomorrow is the start of the 2011 NCAA Tournament and I will post my picks for every game.  The newly added "First Four" games will be featured on TruTV (for some reason).   As following, these are my picks for the First Four games of the 2011 March Madness season.

12. UAB vs. 12. Clemson: I have Clemson winning this one by around ten points.  The Tigers fared well in ACC play this season and defeated Boston College easily and fell apart late in a loss to UNC in the ACC Tournament.  Final Score: CLEMSON 68 - UAB 59 (KenPom score: Clemson 61-58)

16 Seed Games: UT-San Antonio 64 - Alabama State 62
                            UNC-Asheville 73 - Arkansas-Little Rock 67

11. USC vs. 11. VCU: Both of these teams always seem to be a sleeper in the Tournament and I feel the winner of this game WILL go on to defeat the number 6 seed of Georgetown.  USC should win this one but by a close margain.  Final Score: USC 77 - VCU 75  (KenPom score: USC 68-63)

As these games tip off tomorrow and Wednesday, we could see the 12 seed and 11 seed game winners be a Cinderella squad that could go to the 3rd round or further.

All-ACC Tourney Team

As the tournament concluded today with Coach K's 13th ACC title, I feel it's a great time to make my All-Tournament team.

G-Reggie Jackson-Boston College (Avg. 19 points in their 2 games against Clemson and Wake)
G-Nolan Smith-Duke (ACC Player of the Year; Tournament MVP; 18 ppg in the Tourney)
F- Harrison Barnes-UNC (Scored 40 against Clemson in the Semi-Finals)
F-Kyle Singler-Duke (11 points in Title game against UNC)
F-Tyler Zeller-UNC (Game winning FG against Miami and game tying against Clemson)

NCAA Tourney Top Seeds

I have done a bit of research on some of this years top squads.   This is my top 4 seeds for each bracket:
The East I have:
1.Ohio State
2. San Diego State
3. Texas
4. Louisville
For the West:
1. Duke
2. Notre Dame
3. Purdue
4. BYU
Now the Southwest:
1. Kansas
2. North Carolina
3. Kentucky
4. Syracuse
Finally the Southeast:
1. Pitt
2. UConn
3. Florida
4. Arizona

This is just a scenario I feel is appropriate seeing that I DO NOT feel that Duke should be a 2 seed just because the NCAA wants to gain much more revenue from putting Duke and UNC as 2 seeds in the Charlotte region.  So Duke, Pitt, Kansas, and Ohio State deserve the 1 seeds for 2011.  Brackets are out in about an hour so we will see how mine match up.

Introduction

My name is TJ Morrison and I am currently a freshman at Catawba College.  I am a member of the football team here and I am an avid ACC fan.  My father was an All-ACC football selection at Wake Forest in 1986.  I have followed Wake Forest athletics since I was born and have a great deal of knowledge of the history of the Deacs.  Feel free to critique anything I post and also feel free to post anything you would like.
